President Donald Trump’s recent obsession with altering global maps has become a ripe target online.
Trump, 80, has turned his latest makeover of America into another spectacle, drawing side-eye from neighbors who aren’t exactly playing along.
Now, his loudest critics are seizing on the moment and giving the drama an even bigger audience.
Since returning to office, the president has given several familiar bodies of water a distinctly Trump-era makeover.
Trump, 80, faced negative fallout for his efforts to reshape the world. Critics called him out for taunting America’s neighbors over the spiteful changes.
On his first day back in office in January 2025, Trump signed an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico. He directed federal agencies to use “Gulf of America” on official maps and government publications.
He followed that up last month by issuing another executive order to relabel Lake Ontario as “Lake America” on federal maps.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney quickly dismissed the unilateral move, saying Canada will continue to recognize the waterway’s historical name.
Then on Sunday, Sept. 6, Trump sparked more backlash. He shared a Truth Social post with a map of New Mexico, with the word “Mexico” crossed out and replaced with “America.”
The POTUS also took heat for his map-changing clapbacks, while two major tech companies also caught internet backlash.
Critics dragged Apple and Google for bending the knee to the MAGA chief by changing the label of Lake Ontario to “Lake America” for users in the United States.
Trump looked like he had the upper hand in his petty war of words with America’s North American neighbors. Now, his “America” obsession has turned the joke back on him.
The most powerful politician on the planet, focusing on antagonizing Mexico and Canada, opened the door for “South Park” to join in on the trolling.
After 29 years on the air, the award-winning animated program announced a satirical rebrand for its upcoming season premiere on Wednesday, Sep. 16.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced in a statement following the show’s latest Emmy win.

The creators also took a shot at the corporation behind “South Park” by adding, ‘We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”
Parker, 56, and Stone, 55, inspired social media users to voice their feelings about the “Team America: World Police” filmmakers’ sarcastic response to Trump.
“Now that’s funny! Well played, South Park! I mean South ‘America,” said one social media user.
Others are convinced Trump will take it as a high compliment.
“Except Trump will take it as a compliment because he’s far too stupid to understand satire,” someone on Threads joked.
Another person who agreed wrote, “He’ll take it as a compliment unless the show depicts him as an utter fool, which I hope they do.”
Putting the entire show into perspective, one person bluntly summed up the irony.
“Trump is furious that he never won an Emmy for ‘The Apprentice,’ but South Park have just won an Emmy for an episode in which he was portrayed as a tiny talking [male].”
Meanwhile, Trump supporters pushed back. Another Facebook user complained, “Here comes another woke season of South Park.”
“Wokeness” has not been a term typically attached to “South Park.” Since debuting in 1997, the series has not been afraid to make fun of conservatives, liberals, and independents.
“South Park” has also mocked prominent Democrats, including Al Gore, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Kamala Harris.
Trump has remained a “South Park” target, with the sitcom casting Mr. Garrison as his proxy during Trump’s first term.
Trump returned to the White House in 2025 for a second, nonconsecutive term. “South Park” turned that year’s season 27 premiere into a direct takedown of the former “Apprentice” host.
The now-infamous “Sermon on the ‘Mount” episode torched the president and other members of his administration. In particular, an AI-created PSA of a naked Trump in the desert went über-viral.
Plus, seasons 27 and 28 featured a dysfunctional relationship between Trump, Satan, and Vice President JD Vance.
“South Park” also mercilessly ridiculed three people who have since left or lost their Cabinet positions.

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi faced “South Park’s” brutal take on her reputation as a Trump brown-noser in an Oct. 2025 episode.
Noem also got caught in South Park’s crosshairs. In another 2025 episode, the show portrayed her as a Botoxed ICE agent whose face melts off. Hours later, she blasted the episode as “lazy” and “petty” on a podcast, but the show quickly had the last laugh.
The rebranding of “South Park” as “South America” has generated significant buzz for the dark comedy.
Trump often fires back at detractors, so the thin-skinned president could keep the feud going in the days ahead.
