EXCLUSIVE: Herewith, a first look at Black Palace, Nick Hamm’s period thriller that goes inside the walls of UK royal residence Buckingham Palace in Jack the Ripper-era London.
The movie stars Freya Allan (The Witcher), Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of the Dog), Joe Anders (Cape Fear), Raffey Cassidy (The Brutalist), Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), as well as Martin Clunes (Wuthering Heights) and Juliet Stevenson (Truly Madly Deeply).
Black Palace is set in 1888 London as an emerging tabloid media terrifies the public with lurid stories of infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper. It is written by Jon Croker (No One Gets Out Alive).

Per the synopsis, a young woman is sent to work at the heart of Queen Victoria’s British Empire: Buckingham Palace. Her task is to spy on Victoria’s wayward grandson who keeps disappearing at night. As she grows closer to the prince, she uncovers secrets that threaten both the Crown and her own survival.
We have the first-look pics as the movie enters post-production. New Regency is handling worldwide sales and will begin talks with potential distributors as the fall festival season kicks into gear.
The film is produced by Marie-Christine Jaeger-Firmenich for SIMIA Productions, Piers Tempest for Tempo Productions and Mark Huffam and Nick Hamm under the newly created banner, Hamm4. Hannah Shipley and Will Matthew co-produce. Jeremy Bolt and Croker are executive producers.
“The film is constantly shifting between question and answer, tone and perspective, and that demanded a similarly fluid approach to genre,” said the film’s director, Hamm.
“One moment needing to thrill, the next to enchant; extreme fear had to sit alongside extreme passion. Much like the play within the story, the film itself becomes a kind of Jekyll & Hyde experience: romantic and terrifying, seductive and unsettling in equal measure.”
