Jessie J has announced she is taking a social media break to recharge and have her second cancer reconstruction surgery following an ‘extremely busy’ two years.
The singer, 38, has beaten cancer, gone through a breakup and released an album all while trying to raise her young son in the past 24 months.
She split from her partner of five years, Danish-Israeli basketball player Chanan Safir Colman three years after welcoming their son Sky, three.
Now, Jessie has revealed in an emotional Instagram post on Monday that she is having a ‘digital cleanse’ in order to ‘speed up the healing process’.
She penned: ‘I want to start this post off by saying I am ok. I am not at my best but very far from my worst. I know people can twist these kinds of posts.
‘It’s no secret that the last 2 years have been magical, successful, life changing and extremely busy.
‘I have loved the last 2 years mostly, hated it in moments and learnt the most I have ever learnt about myself and what I want from my life and mostly what I want it to FEEL like.

‘To name a few things that have happened in the last 2 years… 1. Put out an album for the first time in 8 years 2. Moved country (USA to UK) 3. Being diagnosed and beating breast cancer 4. Touring the world 5. Going through a breakup 6. Raising a toddler 7. Doing my own socials, styling, hair + makeup everyday.
‘Rightly so (it would be weird if it hadn’t). The past 2 years has taken a toll on parts of me that I haven’t had time to give space and grace to.
‘Now’s the time. Work has slowed down. So healing speeds up please.
‘So I’m tapping out of this [world] for a while and into my real one. To give my mind, body and heart a well needed hug.
‘To finally have my second cancer reconstruction surgery, to recharge, heal, to rest, to process, to love on myself and my boy, to water the next chapter of my life and most importantly be present and really live.
‘I never feel I can really give that side the energy and time it deserves when it’s needed while staying on socials and my phone so much.
‘A digital cleanse it is. I’m posting this for the people who would give af that I haven’t posted or been active for a while. The people who have followed, supported, loved and cared on me and for me during this journey.

‘Might pop on every now and again for work commitments (which sometimes will be my team) but other than that. See you when feels right. Love you all.’
In a separate post, Jessie shared a picture holding son Sky’s hand alongside the caption: ‘No place I would rather be. Bye social media, be back when I want to be.’
Jessie revealed the happy news that she was thankfully cancer free in May, a year after her official diagnosis.
She shared at the time: ‘Results are in and I am cancer-free!” followed by 10 crying emojis.
She added: ‘I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year.’
In June last year, the Price Tag singer revealed her diagnosis on social media, and had surgery later that month. Chanan had been by Jessie’s side throughout her breast cancer journey.
Two months later, in August, she rearranged and cancelled upcoming tour dates after revealing she needed to undergo further cancer treatment.
Jessie J said she decided to go public about her cancer in order to help process her diagnosis, and show solidarity with others going through a similar ordeal and said the diagnosis had given her ‘incredible perspective’.
