EXCLUSIVE: Buyers seeking romance will have a chance for New Love at MIPCOM.
Dori Media Group is launching Fremantle-owned Abot Hameiri‘s new dating format to the international TV marketplace ahead of MIPCOM.
The show puts four single women into accelerated 72-hour live-in situations with carefully selected strangers – moving past dating apps and manufactured first dates directly into daily life: waking up together, meeting friends and family and dealing with everyday moments. After 72 hours, each woman decides to continue for another round, or start again with someone new.
While the show is just hitting the market now, it has been on Reshet 13 in Israel for five seasons already as Ahava Hadasha, with each growing ratings. The fifth season saw the overall audience up by 40% and the 25-34 demographic jumped 250% compared to season three. A sixth season is currently in pre-production.
“We are thrilled to bring Abot Hameiri’s ‘New Love’ to the global TV marketplace,” said Dori Media Group CEO Nadav Palti. “The numbers speak for themselves – five consecutive seasons of growth, and a format that has proven it can hook the younger demographic that every broadcaster is chasing.”
“Dating shows have been selling foreplay for 25 years, New Love sells the relationship,” added Roee Strikovski, CEO of Abot Hameiri. “That’s the whole idea. We put four women straight into real life — 72 hours of actual daily life together, no filters, no isolation. Turns out, that’s where you actually find out if it works. Five seasons of Israeli audiences agree.”
Abot Hamieri is the production company behind Power Couple, the dating format that has launched in more than 25 territories, including a first-ever 24/7 version that debuted this spring across Televisa/Univision’s platforms in the U.S. Hispanic market and Mexico.
Abot Hameiri and Dori Media’s game show The Auction recently launched on América Televisión in Peru.
The news comes as sales houses begin to gear up for MIPCOM, which will be held in just over a month in Cannes, France.
