Saturday Night Live UK has added Such Brave Girls and Big Boys actor Freddie Meredith to the cast of the upcoming second season.

Meredith, who is also a comedian, is coming off his Edinburgh Fringe debut show Need a Light?, which was nominated for a Best Newcomer Award.

He will now join an ensemble also including Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.

Meredith said it was a “no brainer” to join SNL UK, calling it, “The most iconic comedy show,” and adding: “It will undoubtedly inform everything I do for the rest of my career and I can’t wait for the experience.”

As announced last week, Jeff Goldblum will present the first episode of SNL UK Season 2 on Sky this Saturday (September 12), with CMAT the musical guest. Five more episodes will follow weekly until October 24 before a midseason break and a return in “early 2027.”

Season 1 hosts included Tina Fey, Hannah Waddingham, and Nicola Coughlan.

SNL UK is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK production team and Broadway Video. Lorne Michaels serves as executive producer. James Longman is lead producer.

Sky unscripted chief Phil Edgar-Jones told delegates at the recent Edinburgh Television Festival that the British remake of the iconic U.S. sketch show could continue beyond the second season.

“We’re in this for the long run, and we’re super proud of it, and super proud of the team,” Edgar-Jones said, adding that he was pleased to have proved the social media “naysayers” wrong – referencing the general feeling from the British public and TV industry prior to the show’s launch that Season 1 would fail.
