Norah O’Donnell was recently confirmed to be returning to CBS Mornings, which she co-hosted until 2019, when she moved on to host CBS Evening News.
News of O’Donnell’s return to the morning news show was met with pushback from fans who dislike the direction CBS News’ editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, is taking the organization.
The journalist took to the comment section of the social media post announcing her return to CBS Mornings and asked for a chance before judging.
One user said they found it “really disappointing” that a seasoned journalist like O’Donnell would stay at a news organization reportedly not being balanced in their coverage.
“You are obviously not watching the shows,” O’Donnell replied.
Another user asked O’Donnell to go to another network, citing how CBS has handled 60 Minutes and Stephen Colbert.
“Thanks for commenting. Give us a try,” O’Donnell said.
A user also pointed out that they had wished another network would’ve hired O’Donnell, adding, “As long as Bari Weiss and the Ellisons are in charge, bye-bye.”
O’Donnell replied, “This is so silly. Just watch our show.”

Earlier this week, CBS Mornings EP Jon Tower welcomed O’Donnell back to the morning show, which she will co-host alongside Gayle King and Nate Burleson starting Tuesday, September 8.
“This is a homecoming for Norah. As we all know, for seven years, Norah helped lead CBS This Morning alongside Gayle, creating one of the most memorable partnerships in the history of morning news,” Tower in a memo to staff. “They have a friendship and chemistry that extends beyond the studio. They know each other, respect each other, and — maybe most importantly — genuinely enjoy each other. To put it simply, I can’t think of a team I’d rather watch navigate the news than Gayle, Nate and Norah.”
