Elliot Page Hasn’t Had Any Roles Since ‘The Odyssey’

Although Elliot Page delivered a powerful performance in The Odyssey, the part hasn’t led to a surge in offers.

When asked if he was “getting a zillion calls” after portraying Sinon in the Christopher Nolan-helmed epic, the Oscar nominee revealed work has been slow for him, despite being able to “do some of my best work now.”

“No, Kevin, I’m not. So, if someone wants to call me,” he admitted on the On Film… podcast, before joking, “I know I get some pushback for being Canadian. I don’t know what it’s about, but—”

Page continued, “No, I’d really love to do, ideally, good work. That’s what I’d love to do. And I feel like I’m in a place where, you know, it is actually interesting when you ask me about maybe, I don’t know, if this is weird or too personal. But when you do ask me about Ariadne [in Inception], I had such a great time being in that movie, I had such a great time working with Chris, but I was also personally really uncomfortable. Whereas, a part like Juno, I was able to feel a little bit more comfortable and embodied, or something like that. But I feel now, ’cause that’s removed and I don’t have to deal with that in my acting in my performances, I’m like, ‘I feel like I could do some of my best work now.’

“I’m just relaxed. I’m not having to literally work through a performance that I don’t even know that I’m doing to get to a performance,” he added.

An adaptation of one of the first stories in human history, The Odyssey follows Odysseus (Matt Damon) through the incredible trials and mythical encounters he faces on his decade-long journey home to wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) after the Trojan War.

The film also stars Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Travis Scott and more.
