Grand Theft Auto 6 extended look is released – but unimpressed viewers claim it ‘looks like an unfinished snooze fest’

It is one of the most eagerly anticipated games in history – and now we’ve finally been given a sneak peek at Grand Theft Auto VI.

Rockstar Games, the developer behind the game, has released an ‘extended look’ on YouTube and Netflix.

‘Captured entirely from in–game footage on PlayStation 5, this extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI showcases the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet,’ it explained.

The footage confirms that the game will feature several risqué scenes, including a shootout in a drug lab, fist fights in the street, and even a man watching porn using a VR headset.

However, many fans have been left unimpressed.

Taking to Reddit, one sceptic claimed the game ‘looks like an unfinished snooze fest.’

They added: ‘I wasn’t crazy hyped for this game, so I went in with reasonable expectations, and even then, it managed to disappoint.’

Unfortunately, there’s still a while to wait before you can actually play it, with GTA VI set to finally be released on November 19, following years of delays.

Rockstar Games shared the video on X, where it has had mixed reviews.

Several fans appear to be delighted at the extended look, with one calling it ‘insane’.

Another tweeted: ‘Just sat through the whole 26–minute extended look and I won’t lie…GTA 6 looks absolutely MAGNIFICENT.’

And one added: ‘Can’t even belive this was caught on PS5. Wizards, well done. Absolutely unbelievable.’

However, others are less impressed.

‘It looks horrible. No changes to the gameplay loop. Just random fluff added. What a waste of time,’ one viewer wrote.

Another said: ‘Your game feels more like watching a Netflix show than actually playing a game. The graphics are nice, but there’s barely any gameplay.’

And one vented: ‘I have always loved GTA games. But there was nothing really impressive or revolutionary with anything shown so far.’

GTA VI will cost £69.99, and is available for pre–order now, ahead of its release on November 19.

The release’s 2013 predecessor, ‘Grand Theft Auto V,’ reached $1 billion in sales within three days.

At the time, that was the fastest any entertainment release had hit that mark.

It has since sold more than 230 million copies, trailing only ‘Minecraft’ among the best–selling games ever and its online version has remained a steady earner for more than a decade.

However, the game’s development has not been without turbulence.

A 2022 breach saw unfinished footage leaked online in one of the largest such incidents in gaming history.

What’s more, Rockstar’s firing of dozens of employees last year drew accusations of union–busting from labor organizers.
