On Monday, a rockfall caused a road in a popular part of Zion National Park to close while officials cleaned up. Video shows an incredible view of the rockfall from the ground in Zion. The road has since reopened.
ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah – A rockfall temporarily closed a road through a popular area of Utah’s Zion National Park on Monday as the country marks the start of National Park Week.
Video obtained by FOX Weather shows a biker standing on the road as the rocks fell, bringing dust and debris crashing down.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Zion Area posted Monday afternoon, alerting visitors that the Zion Canyon shuttle line would be stopping at The Grotto, which is stop number six on the line due to a large rockfall on Scenic Drive.

On Tuesday morning, UDOT Zion Area posted saying the rockfall was cleared and the road reopened.
The temporary closure came as America celebrates National Park Week, when national parks are highlighted for their beauty and all they have to offer, and people are invited to come enjoy the parks.
Another video showed the rockfall from above, as people standing on a nearby overlook watched the rocks and dirt tumble over the road.

A large rockfall occurred in Zion National Park on Monday, prompting road closures and changes to shuttle service. Incredible footage captures the sheer scale of the slide near Big Bend as thick clouds of orange dust rise in the air.
Rockfalls are relatively common in Zion National Park, and a number of things can cause a rockfall to happen, with water and temperatures weakening them and gravity also helping to cause the rocks to shift position.

Photos from the site showed a bus that was caught near the rockslide, parked in a cloud of orangish-red dust.
Rockfalls in Zion are cleaned up by hand, and if necessary, heavy machinery or blasting is used to remove large chunks of rock unable to be moved otherwise.
