Kyiv has been battered in near nightly-attacks in recent weeks, with some strikes resulting in dozens of deaths and serious injuries.
More than a dozen regions have been targeted across Ukraine over the past week, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, with Russia launching more than 1,550 attack drones, 1,560 guide aerial bombs and 62 missiles Ukraine.
Ukraine has stepped up its attacks deep inside Russia during the past few weeks, with a recent flurry of 600 drones targeting Moscow.
Two separate attacks on Russia this week has killed at least 16 people, including one child.
Since July, Ukraine has repeatedly targeted a warehouse belonging to the online retailer Wildberries, known as Russia’s version of Amazon. Ukraine’s defence ministry said the latest attack meant that seven out of 10 of the largest Wildberries logistics centres had been “disabled”.
While the attacks on Russia are partly intended to increase pressure on Moscow to engage in peace talks to end the four and a half year war, there has been little movement on diplomatic efforts to broker a ceasefire deal.
Both sides accuse each other of targeting civilians.
Russia first launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and currently controls about one-fifth of Ukrainian territory – largely concentrated in the eastern border regions.
