Doomsday warnings have erupted online as three spectacular cosmic events prepare to converge within hours of one another on August 12.
A total solar eclipse, the peak of the Perseid meteor shower and a six-planet parade will transform the skies in what stunned social media users have dubbed the universe’s ‘triple feature.’
The coincidence has triggered wild speculation about what the celestial display could mean, with some predicting everything from a ‘zombie pandemic’ to the Rapture.
‘That’s literally doomsday,’ one user declared, while another warned: ‘If y’all hear trumpets, mind your business.’
Others joked that the universe was preparing to ‘initiate a soft reboot’ and that ‘astronomy got a season finale.’
However, there is no scientific evidence that the events signal an impending catastrophe or that they are connected beyond occurring on the same date.
The eclipse will briefly plunge parts of Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Portugal into darkness, while some areas of the US will witness a partial eclipse.
Later that night, the Perseids will streak across moonless skies as Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune appear spread across a broad arc overhead.

A total solar eclipse is when the moon passes directly between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun and turning day into temporary darkness for people in the narrow path of the shadow.
Western Iceland and northern Spain will offer the best views of the total solar eclipse, with Látrabjarg, Iceland, experiencing the longest period of darkness.
Spain may be the better destination because the eclipse will cross a larger stretch of land and August temperatures are typically much warmer. Cities in the path of totality include Bilbao, Valencia, Zaragoza and Palma.
North American viewers will see only a partial eclipse, ranging from approximately nine percent coverage in New York City to 53 percent in St John’s, Newfoundland.
But the celestial display will not end when the sun goes down.
The Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak overnight from August 12 into August 13, with the greatest activity expected during the predawn hours.
Under clear, dark skies, viewers could see as many as 100 meteors per hour. A new moon will provide ideal conditions by keeping the sky free from interfering moonlight.
Although the shower will remain active through August 24, the best time to watch will be from approximately 11pm local time until dawn.

To finish off the trinity will be the parade of planets, a visual event when several planets appear together in the same area of the night sky from Earth’s perspective.
Before dawn, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn and Neptune will appear spread across the sky in a broad arc known as a planetary parade.
Mars and Saturn should be visible to the naked eye, while Mercury and Jupiter will be more difficult to spot because they will sit low on the eastern horizon as sunrise approaches.
Viewers will likely need binoculars to see Uranus and a telescope to find Neptune.
Across much of the Northern Hemisphere, the best viewing window will be approximately 30 to 60 minutes before sunrise, although visibility will depend on location, weather and an unobstructed horizon.
While the time of the three events is nothing more than a coincidence, people online believe there is a more sinister reason.
‘This sounds like the intro to a disaster movie,’ one X user posted.
Another shared: ‘Well, the ancient Mayans would interpret an eclipse, star alignment, and meteor showers as apocalyptic omens.
‘So maybe a massive war, massive crop failure, or the wrath of god. Good luck, everyone!!’
