NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – It has been a soggy July in New York City, with repeated rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms swamping streets, flooding subway stations and disrupting life across the Big Apple.
Throughout July, repeated rounds of classic summer thunderstorms at points overwhelmed New York City’s streets and subway system, with Flash Flood Warnings and submerged vehicles becoming familiar scenes across the five boroughs.

According to the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), at New York City’s official long-term climate station at Central Park, the historical average rain rate for the month of July is 4.60 inches.

After multiple rounds of soaking thunderstorms and flash flooding, New York City’s July rainfall total has added up as we push towards the end of the month.

With only the final days of the month remaining, prediction market traders are watching where the official Central Park rain gauge ultimately lands.
Prediction market trading suggests New York City’s July rainfall will finish just above the historical monthly average, but there’s still time.
Throughout the month, concerts, sporting events and other outdoor gatherings were canceled or delayed as repeated rounds of rain and thunderstorms disrupted plans across New York City.

With only a couple of days remaining in July, there is still time for the official rainfall total to climb.
While the National Weather Service forecasts a quieter pattern to close out the month, isolated showers and thunderstorms remain possible before sunshine becomes more widespread to round out the month.
