The full moon to kick off July wasn’t just a full moon, but the year’s first “Super” moon. It’s also known as the Buck Moon. Here are a compilation of photos as the moon was seen around the world.
Stargazers have the chance to enjoy a bright night at the end of this month as the Buck Moon is set to commence on Wednesday.
A buck moon is the traditional name for the full moon in July because male deer grow new antlers covered in velvety fur at this time of year, according to the New York State Parks and Historic Preservation.

The July full moon can also be referred to as a Thunder Moon due to frequent summer thunderstorms, according to the Farmers’ Almanac.

As the full moon dazzles the sky, there will be the opportunity to view this celestial event.
The full buck moon will reach peak illumination at 10:36 a.m. EDT, according to the Farmers’ Almanac.
