Britney Spears horrifies drivers as she CLIMBS OUT of car roof on busy freeway months after DUI arrest

Britney Spears turned Los Angeles traffic into her own personal stage on Thursday with a jaw-dropping stunt that left fellow drivers doing double takes.

The pop superstar, 44, was photographed standing through the moonroof of a black Mercedes SUV as it cruised along the busy 101 Freeway near Studio City after traveling from Thousand Oaks.

At one point, Spears stretched both arms across the roof of the moving vehicle and threw her head back in a pose reminiscent of one of her iconic music videos, seemingly unfazed by the steady stream of traffic around her.

With her blonde hair whipping in the wind, the singer put on quite the spectacle in a plunging mini dress as the SUV continued along the packed freeway at around 45mph.

Witnesses estimated Spears remained standing through the moonroof for roughly two minutes before the vehicle eventually exited the highway.

After pulling into a nearby gas station, Spears was seen laughing and chatting with her mystery chauffeur – who has recently been linked to the singer as a possible new boyfriend – in the latest eyebrow-raising outing to come just months after resolving her DUI case.

The eyebrow-raising freeway display is merely the latest chapter in what has become another turbulent stretch for the Toxic singer.

Spears only recently resolved her high-profile DUI case after pleading to a reduced reckless driving charge, known as a ‘wet reckless,’ stemming from her March 4 arrest.

The plea allowed her to avoid jail time, but she was sentenced to 12 months’ probation, fined $571 and ordered to complete 30 hours of DUI education classes.

The agreement also came with strict conditions. Spears is barred from driving with any intoxicant in her system, must submit to breath, blood, urine or saliva tests if requested by police, and cannot possess or use drugs or marijuana unless medically prescribed.

That made what happened just days later all the more surprising.

CCTV footage obtained exclusively by the Daily Mail showed Spears stopping at Wines of the World in Sherman Oaks before what turned into another headline-grabbing evening.

The singer wandered the aisles with two companions before breaking into an impromptu dance while one of the men picked up a large can of alcoholic Twisted Tea.

But the liquor store stop proved to be only the beginning of the evening.

The group then crossed the street to the Blue Dog Tavern, where witnesses later claimed Spears caused a commotion by ‘barking,’ carrying a knife around the restaurant and smoking a cigarette near the entrance.

Witnesses also alleged the singer appeared affectionate with her male companion, at one point feeding him food and telling him, ‘I love you,’ although it was unclear whether the remark was romantic or made in jest.

The knife claims quickly generated headlines, although there turned out to be a far less dramatic explanation.

Restaurant staff confirmed Spears had ordered a burger, which is routinely served with a steak knife.

Her representative insisted the evening had been ‘completely blown out of proportion,’ saying Spears had simply been enjoying dinner with her assistant and bodyguard and had only used the knife to cut her burger.

The outing after Spears voluntarily cut short a three-week stay at a substance abuse rehabilitation facility, raising fresh questions after her recent legal troubles.

The latest freeway stunt follows months of increasingly erratic headlines surrounding the singer.

Earlier this year, Spears was filmed swerving along a highway on two separate occasions and was later seen stumbling out of a bar clutching a champagne flute.

On February 12, Spears was spotted behind the wheel of her Mercedes SUV, taking a spin around Los Angeles, appearing to break the law as she held her cell phone to her face. Talking on the phone is illegal in California under the ‘No Touch’ law. She was not charged in connection with the incident.

Then in October of last year, she was filmed swerving into the wrong lane on a highway after a night out. At the time, sources feared she was ‘spiraling’ amid the release of her ex-husband Kevin Federline‘s memoir. The two were married from 2004 to 2007.

Her history with the police also included being cited for a misdemeanor hit-and-run after hitting a parked car in 2007. This was dismissed after Spears paid an undisclosed sum to the owner, it was reported at the time.

She was also cited for driving without a valid California license in 2008, which was later dismissed by a judge.

In 2023, law enforcement visited Spears’s home regarding a video involving knives, but no charges were filed.

Spears has had very public personal struggles for nearly two decades: In 2007, the star famously suffered a harrowing breakdown after exhibiting worrying behavior in the months leading up to her infamous psychiatric hold.

The then 25-year-old had fans concerned after she shaved her head and attacked a paparazzi’s car with a green umbrella – before checking into a rehab facility.

The singer suffered another setback after a disastrous performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, where her performance of Gimme More was heavily criticized by both fans and critics alike.

Then, in January 2008, she was put under lockdown at a facility after refusing to hand her young son over to ex-husband Federline.

Her Instagram page has likewise continued to generate headlines thanks to a stream of topless photos, frenetic dance videos and emotional posts.

In one particularly startling upload, Spears claimed someone had stolen half of her wardrobe and cash, prompting her to declare she was going to ‘rebel’ on social media.

Her family relationships have also remained strained in the years since the end of her 13-year conservatorship.

Last October, reports claimed loved ones feared the singer was ‘spiraling’ following renewed family tensions, while she was notably absent from a recent family gathering celebrating her niece Maddie’s graduation.
