‘It’s Not Like That’ Star Scott Foley Reacts To Series’ Cancellation

A day after Deadline broke the news that Prime Video has canceled It’s Not Like That, faith-based family drama’s star and executive producer Scott Foley shared his reaction to the decision in an Instagram video.

“After six or so weeks in Prime Video’s Top 10 — I think getting as high as like three or four — really great reviews (I think we have like 100% on Rotten Tomatoes), our little show called It’s Not Like That has been canceled at Amazon Prime,” he said, referring to the series’ perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and that it has been a fixture in Prime Video’s Daily Top 10 for TV shows since getting a wide release on the platform on May 15. (As part of Prime Video’s collaboration with The Wonder Project, which is behind It’s Not Like That, the series debuted on the Wonder Project add-on subscription channel first in January.)

“I think I’m just disappointed, obviously, but I’m so grateful for the chance,” Foley added. “I got to make a show I’m so proud of with people I grew to like a lot, and now we don’t get to make it anymore, and you don’t get to watch it. If you watched it, thank you, I appreciate it. If you didn’t, it’s still on Amazon Prime, you can check it out. It’s not going to change the cancelation, but I wanted to thank everybody who took the time to check it out.”

From Parenthood alums Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, It’s Not Like That follows Malcolm (Foley), a pastor who is a recently widowed dad of three, and Lori (Erinn Hayes), a newly divorced mom of two teens, as they navigate their newly minted singledom with parenthood.

The cast also included J.R. Ramirez (as David Soto), Caleb Baumann (Merritt Soto), Cary Christopher (Justin Jeffries), Leven Miranda (Flora Jeffries), Liv Lindell (Casey Soto) and Cassidy Paul (Penelope Jeffries).

Foley ended his message to fans with a thank-you to the cast and crew.

“I loved making this show with you, and I would work with you again and again and again,” he said.

Foley also posted a collage of It’s Not Like That behind-the-scenes and promotional event photos.
