TULSA, Okla. — Two people are dead and a family member is in police custody after an incident at an east Tulsa senior living center.
Tulsa police said around 8:26 p.m. on July 3, emergency dispatchers got a call from a woman at the Country Club at Woodland Hills senior living center near 61st and Mingo. She said her husband was unresponsive before the line went silent.

First responders arrived at the center to find 93 year-olds Richard and Katherine Garwood dead from what appeared to be severe stab wounds.
Reviewing surveillance footage with police, members of the living center staff recognized a family member of the victims inside the facility at the time of the deaths. He was considered a suspect and his vehicle information was shared throughout the department.
At about 10:30 p.m., analysts with the Real Time Information Center identified the suspect’s vehicle, and police were dispatched to the homes of other family to ensure their safety.
About an hour later, the truck was spotted on northbound Highway 169. Shortly after that, a 911 call reported a truck had hit an abandoned car on the highway.

Tulsa Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene, where they had to remove the suspect from the vehicle.
Police said the suspect, whose name will be released once he is charged, admitted to the crime. He broke his hip in the crash and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He will be charged once he is released from the hospital.
