Peter Andre has revealed he struggled to adjust to his daughter Princess having a boyfriend after he was raised a strict Jehovah’s Witness.
The Mysterious Girl singer, 53, said he used to be very strict due to his parents’ beliefs but now no longer agrees with what he was taught.
Peter said: ‘I was a lot stricter 21 years ago because I’d come from a family that was very strict. I instilled things I was told. As the kids have grown older, I’ve realised I no longer agree with a lot of what I was taught, even though it was done out of love.
‘Like when my daughter talked about having a boyfriend and I would say, “No no, you’re going to become a nun” and stuff like that. Times have changed.
He added to The Sun: ‘But when Princess got to 14 and started talking to Emily about boys, it softened my heart because I saw the innocence in it. I remembered I was like that and I wasn’t allowed to have a girlfriend.’
Peter said there were ‘no such thing as girlfriends and boyfriends’ when he was growing up because of his religion.

Peter shares Princess and son Junior, 21, with his ex-wife Katie Price. He also shares Millie, Arabella and Theo with his wife Emily.
Peter’s parents Savvas, 91, and Thea Andre, 89, are Greek-Cypriot and reside in Australia.
Princess split from her former flame last year after reports her busy career left ‘no place for a man’.
She first went public with their romance when she invited him along to her mother Katie’s 45th birthday celebrations in Brighton in May 2023.
Katie then appeared on Jamie Laing’s Private Parts podcast, where she opened up on her thoughts about the romance.
Discussing her Christmas plans at the time, she revealed: ‘Princess and her boyfriend are coming up with me for the weekend.’
Jamie excitedly interrupted: ‘Princess has a boyfriend!’ causing Katie to reply: ‘I know, Ed. He’s alright actually.’
Describing their relationship, she continued: ‘I watch them, and they argue, then they laugh. They argue like proper little teenagers. ‘They’re both like jealous of each other and it’s like, “Oh shut up you two!” They are funny together, they’re like a little married couple.’
Katie then spoke about her parenting rules for the couple, saying she was ‘easygoing’ because she remembers how she was at their age.
However, Princess’ dad Peter Andre has admitted he was ‘struggling’ with the news that his daughter was dating and told Woman magazine: ‘I’m not happy about this at all. I’m struggling beyond belief, but that’s life. We’ve had many chats. I have very strict rules in my house.’
He admitted: ‘I had this rule that would never have a boyfriend until she was 38, and now she’s 16 and she’s talking about boys!’.
Meanwhile, Junior has been in a relationship with girlfriend Jasmine Orr, 25, since 2024.

Princess opened up about her struggles with dating on the first episode of season two of her ITV show Princess Diaries.
The 18-year-old gave a glimpse into her glamorous life and career in the show after growing up in the spotlight with her parents.
One scene in the show sees her enjoying a dinner out with Kerry Katona‘s daughter Heidi, also 18, where she asks her about her love life.
She replied saying that she wanted to focus on herself right now and that her mum’s experiences with men have shaped her view on men and relationships.
Princess said: ‘I think, I think about my mum, she’s had so many people do her wrong, it’s an eye opener and so my guard is up.
‘I don’t want another relationship yet, I want to be confident in myself first. It would have to be something very special for me to be open about it and post about it.’
Katie, 47, has been married four times and engaged a total of nine times, most recently wedding entrepreneur Lee Andrews after a whirlwind one-week romance.
While speaking to Heidi she also spoke about trusting friends since moving into the limelight more.
She said: ‘I don’t trust anyone. Since people have known I’ve been filming for season two I have had a lot of people message me saying ‘let’s hang out’ or ‘we should be friends’. I don’t want friends like that!’
