Olivia and Alex Bowen have furiously hit back after an Influencer laid into them for posting ‘unrelatable’ content from their new holiday villa in Spain.
The single mother didn’t name the Bowens specifically but shared a video saying she couldn’t relate to videos people were posting from their new Spanish villas when she was trying to make ends meet.
She said that while she hadn’t followed these accounts, the content had come up in her algorithm and made her feel down about her own life when she was struggling.
Several people sent the video to the Bowens and Olivia, 32, responded directly to the girl’s post in her comments, although the post has since been deleted.
Alex, 34, shared his own video on Sunday, calling the whole thing ‘ridiculous’ and suggested anyone that doesn’t like their content, should unfollow and block them.

Olivia immediately jumped to the comments of her husband’s video to share her view
She shared this post directly in the comments of the Influencer who shared the initial video
He said: ‘I feel like I’ve just got to make a video about it because it has annoyed me a little bit.
‘Liv got sent a couple of messages last night, basically this girl, this influencer, had posted saying, “I feel like so many people are so out of touch now, posting their million pound houses and their Spanish villas” and we got sent it a couple of times and it annoyed me.
‘I watched the video and by this logic, I can’t afford a Ferrari or a Lamboghini but if I follow someone that’s got one, shall I make a video about it moaning about it?
‘It doesn’t make sense. You get to control what you see so if you don’t like that person, or seeing these certain things, just unfollow them and block it and it won’t come up on your feed again. and control your feed a different way.’
He continued: ‘Some people are doing better than others in life, people are doing better than what me and Liv are doing. You should be happy for them, not saying, “Oh people are so out of touch, it’s not fair, we ain’t got this, you’ve got that”.
‘There’s people out there with millions of pounds, I don’t moan about it. Do the best with what you can. The girl in the video says she’s not bothered, but you are bothered, because you’ve made a video about it.
‘The same way I am making a video about it now. I’m bothered about it because we’ve been sent a video about it a few times. Normally I wouldn’t make videos like this but I just think it’s ridiculous.
‘I don’t know whether she’s doing it because she genuinely thinks that, or she knows she’s going to get loads of comments, and it’s going to boost her thing up, I don’t know the girl.
The couple have been documenting their quest to purchase a holiday home where they can ‘make memories’ with their two children Abel, four, and Sienna, 10 months
Olivia previously shared a video of their new home and its outside terrace on Instagram, including a private pool and an outside BBQ , after building it ‘from scratch’
The former Love Island stars first signed the paperwork to begin building their villa in 2024

‘I am not going to out her name or whatever it is. It’s just a bit of a weird thing to say. Everyone’s always doing better than someone.
‘I never had anything before, nothing at all. And now I have, I’m proud of that and I want to post about it. I just had to put my two cents in, I just think it’s a bit silly.’
And supporting her husband, Olivia wrote in the comments: ‘I think it’s such a hard conversation but not everyone’s content is for everyone.
‘I also think to be moaning about that and then also posting your own content where you have a car, you have a coffee machine, you have brands sending you free clothes you’re posting with links that I know gain sales with affiliate links meaning you get paid from your followers…
‘Like you can’t moan about influencer culture & content creation if you’re also doing it.
‘Maybe it is for attention or maybe it’s genuine I don’t know, but I truly only want people to be happy & inspired by following me/us. I love interiors I love family I love travel.
‘We worked for this, I don’t want to be made upset so I’ll also be utilising my block & unfollow button, I encourage anyone else to do the same to make you feel good & inspired.’
Kate Ferdinand wrote: ‘I saw your new villa posts and I was over the moon for you and @oliviadbowen! Love to see how far you’ve come from love island days .’
Jake Quickenden added: ‘ People need to start being happy for others success that then breeds success if you are negative all the time you will only see negativity.’
And Olivia added: ‘Everyone is so friggin kind, reminder to self – take most notice of the kind friendly people it’s not even to get this kind of response I just wanted people to know it’s ok to unfollow or mute anything that isn’t making them feel inspired, happy etc.
‘It’s your feed! I’m glad most of you enjoy it that makes me so happy to have you on this journey with us – ten years later .’
Olivia had first responded to the Influencer in the comments section, saying to her: ‘Just as you are a content creator on here, I also create content.
‘The content I create on is what my life is, so I can’t exactly mute that as my job is my life. My interior design is my favourite job in the world so naturally, a villa comes under that brolly.’
She added: ‘I share my life, all aspects of it and lots of it I am truly lucky to have adn the marketing of social media is part of that, some also isn’t great! It really is the ups and downs. I do feel if I didn’t share it a lot of people would then think I was hiding things and not talking and being honest.’
