Susan Boyle has apologised to fans after pulling out of a gig because her manager underwent dental work.

The singer, 65, had been due to travel to the States with her manager for a charity event on Friday, but revealed on Monday that she would no longer be attending.

In a Facebook post, Susan explained: ‘I’m so sorry to say that I will no longer be travelling to Boston for the David Yarrow Foundation event.

‘Due to unforeseen circumstances following a dental procedure, my manager has been advised not to fly, which sadly means we’re unable to make the journey.

‘I was really looking forward to being there and supporting such a wonderful cause, and I’m so sorry for any disappointment this may cause.

‘Sending my love and best wishes to everyone involved for a very special evening. Susan x’.

Susan, who has been in the process of making a comeback with new music and a glamorous new look, has worked with PA and manager Geraldine Easton for a decade.

She has previously described Geraldine as ‘her rock’, and it was Geraldine who found Susan at home following a stroke in 2022 and rushed her to hospital.

Susan also moved this year from her home of 60 years – a former council house in Blackburn, West Lothian – to be closer to Geraldine.

The I Dreamed A Dream singer previously spoke about the importance of having a team she knows and trusts around her after being diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome.

She said previously: ‘I am not strong on my own. When I have the support of people around me I am fine.’

Last year, Susan credited Geraldine for helping her get back into music.

She shared a picture of herself in the recording studio in a Facebook post that she captioned: ‘Today was wonderful, emotional, and everything in between.

‘I made my return to the recording studio for the first time in six years, something I was told I might never achieve again. But here we are, in my happy place!

‘I want to thank my manager, Geraldine, for being my absolute rock through everything and for helping me get back to where I belong. A million thanks.’

Susan recently launched her return to the spotlight with new campaigns for Irn-Bru and Cornetto, but has since shared she wants to disappear from public life when she completes her new record, and a biopic about her journey.

The singer became a global star when she auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, but has since shared she struggled with her mental health during her time on the show.

After her own struggles with fame post-BGT, Susan called for better support for reality TV contestants.

She said: ‘Back then, I had no support. It was extremely hard.’

Susan also opened up on her health struggles after suffering a stroke which impacted her voice and singing ability.

Speaking to The Sun about her 2022 stroke which left her unable to speak or sing, she explained that she had to undergo speech therapy to regain her voice.

She said: ‘I never thought I would be able to come this far. I’ve had a lot of encouragement and the public have been so loving to me.

‘I have had a lot of speech therapy. It was difficult at first, but after the first few weeks, my voice slowly started to come back. I have been having a lot of vocal lessons, too, for my singing.

‘It still needs some work, but I am sure my singing voice will come back. I am taking wee baby steps. If you go too fast, too soon, you go down a hole. It took a while for my confidence to come back with my music. But I am getting there. Slowly.’
