Court records show Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz faces an aggravated assault charge after a security guard was injured during a nightclub incident.

HOUSTON — Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz is facing a felony aggravated assault charge after investigators accused him of injuring a security guard during an incident at a nightclub, according to court records.

According to Harris County court records, Torrence Ivy Hatch Jr., known professionally as Boosie Badazz, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with an alleged assault that occurred on May 24.

Investigators allege the incident happened around 2 a.m. at a Houston nightclub, where a security guard was helping escort a woman out of the establishment near closing time. According to the criminal complaint, the woman became upset after being told she could not use the restroom because the club was no longer open to patrons.

The security guard told police the woman hit him in the face before dropping her cellphone and keys on the floor. As he bent down to retrieve the items, the victim alleges Hatch became involved in the confrontation.

According to court records, the security guard told investigators Hatch hit him in the head with a glass hookah base. The complaint states the guard suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital, where he received eight staples.

A second security guard told police he witnessed the incident. According to the charging document, the witness reported hearing glass shatter and then observed Hatch holding a broken glass hookah base while yelling at the injured guard.

Court documents state both security guards identified Hatch by his stage name, “Boosie BadAzz,” and later identified him from a photograph. Investigators said club promoters and owners also identified the defendant.

Prosecutors asked the court to set Hatch’s bond at $85,000, arguing that he allegedly assaulted a marked security guard and caused injuries that required stitches. Court records show the request was granted.

Hatch is scheduled to be back in court on Monday.
