Everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog is zooming back to theaters as production wraps on Sonic the Hedgehog 4.

Director Jeff Fowler, who has helmed all four movies in the franchise, announced on Friday that filming had concluded on the fourth installment of the Paramount/Sega franchise, sharing a set photo of himself with the hedgehog’s robotic doppelganger Metal Sonic.

“And that’s a wrap on #SonicMovie4!!!” wrote Fowler on X. “On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we have filmed the BEST Sonic Movie yet and can’t wait to share.”

Set to premiere March 19, 2027 in theaters, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 features Kristen Bell as the voice of Amy Rose, with Ben Schwartz reprising the voice of Sonic. The franchise also stars Jim Carrey, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter.

Producers are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara. Together, the Sonic franchise has surpassed $1 billion, with the latest installment becoming the highest-grossing film in the series, earning over $490 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 opened to No. 1 domestically, for two consecutive weeks, and debuted at No. 1 in over 30 markets including the U.K., Mexico, Italy, and Australia. The threequel has driven over $180M in global consumer spending from home entertainment rentals and purchases.
