WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Officials said no one was hurt after a fire broke out inside a home in Northwest D.C., leaving several people displaced on Tuesday.
In a post on X just after 1 p.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD), said crews were called to a box alarm in the 5400 block of 9th Street. There, firefighters found a working fire in a two-story home with flames spreading to a house nearby.
About an hour later, the fire department said all visible flames were out, but crews were still managing hot spots.
In videos posted by DCFD on social media, thick smoke could be seen billowing from the home as firefighters work on the scene.
The American Red Cross was notified to assist six people who were displaced.
