Four teenagers were arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading deputies on a high-speed pursuit in San Bernardino County.

Due to their age, the teen suspects were only identified as:

  • A 14-year-old male from Arcadia
  • A 15-year-old male from Plascencia
  • A 16-year-old male from West Covina
  • A 16-year-old male from Los Angeles

On Feb. 23, a San Bernardino County deputy saw a driver in a white Toyota Camry intentionally swerve into oncoming traffic before attempting to hit his vehicle head-on in Adelanto.

The deputy attempted to pull the driver over but they refused, leading him on a pursuit.

The driver, identified as the 14-year-old suspect, continued driving recklessly and hit speeds of 110 mph, authorities said.

The chase made its way through Victorville and onto the northbound 15 Freeway. It continued north until the suspects reached Barstow where the vehicle transmission was blown and the suspects crashed the car.

Four teenagers were taken into custody at the scene. Deputies confirmed the 15-year-old suspect had stolen the vehicle from a family member in West Covina.

The 14-year-old driver and the 15-year-old passenger were arrested and booked at the High Desert Juvenile Detention and Assessment Center.

The other two passengers were released to their parents’ custody. Authorities said three of the juveniles were documented gang members.

No further details were released as the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information can call Deputy J. Villasenor at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at 760-552-6800.
