At least four people were hospitalized, one of whom was unconscious, after a destructive hit-and-run crash in Westlake on Sunday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA that around 12:20 p.m., the driver of a black Alfa Romeo crashed into two other cars at Olympic Boulevard and Union Avenue and fled the scene.
Crews with the L.A. Fire Department responded and had to rescue two adult patients who were trapped in one of the hit cars. Both patients were extricated from the wreckage and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
According to the LAPD, one of these patients was not conscious or breathing.
Another two patients, whose ages were not disclosed, were found at the scene and transported with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the LAFD.
Officials did not immediately identify any of the patients, but unconfirmed reports say the latter two patients were minors.
Details are limited, but the LAPD said the hit-and-run suspect was found and taken into custody “shortly after” on James M. Wood and Olympic boulevards.
No further information was available as of 2 p.m.
