Four suspects were arrested for the attempted murder of a man who was shot outside a convenience store in Riverside County.

The four suspects, all Lake Elsinore residents, were identified as:

  • Robert Flores, 18
  • Jonathan Juarez, 19
  • Alberto Garcia, 20
  • A 17-year-old male

In December 2024, deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in Lake Elsinore. Arriving deputies found a male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The victim said he was walking home from a local convenience store when he heard a gunshot then realized he was struck by gunfire. The suspects had fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team, along with the Region 4 Gang Task Force, began investigating the case. During the investigation, detectives learned a local street gang had “conspired and ultimately committed the assault.”

In February 2025, search warrants were served at several undisclosed locations where all four suspects were arrested in connection to the shooting.

The 17-year-old was arrested for attempted murder. The other three suspects were arrested for conspiracy and attempted murder.

Details on the motive behind the shooting, along with the relationship between the suspects and the victim, were not released. Authorities are seeking gang-related enhancements for the incident as well.

“The Lake Elsinore Station and the Region 4 Gang Task Force have a zero-tolerance stance on all gang-related crime and it will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the sheriff’s department said.

Anyone with further information on the case is encouraged to call Deputy Tickel at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at 951–245–3300.
