Three suspects were arrested in connection with a stabbing that left a man dead and another hospitalized outside a popular Santa Monica bar.
Santa Monica police identified the suspects as Alfredo Quinteros, 41, and Ricardo Quintero Jr., 42, both from South Gate, and Rogelio Arenas, 32, of Los Angeles.
Police said all three men had “extensive criminal histories.”
On Feb. 15, officers responded to reports of a stabbing at The Bungalow at Fairmont Miramar Hotel on 101 Wilshire Blvd. at around 1:50 a.m. The incident reportedly stemmed from a verbal altercation.
Officers found two male victims with stab wounds at the scene. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite lifesaving measures, one victim, Oscar Alfredo Gonzalez, 31, from Santa Maria, later died from his injuries. The second male victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Gonzalez was initially identified by police as a man from Anaheim. No arrests were initially made at the scene.
“While the suspects and victims had all been customers at the Bungalow bar inside the Fairmont, the assault occurred outside the hotel on the public sidewalk,” police said.
Following an investigation, detectives identified three men as suspects in the deadly stabbing. Two suspects were arrested on Feb. 17 and the third was arrested on Feb. 19.
Quinteros and Arenas were arrested for homicide, while Quintero Jr. was arrested for accessory. All three are being held without bail. Police noted that Alfredo Quinteros and Ricardo Quintero Jr. are brothers and confirmed their last names are spelled differently.
“This remains an active investigation, and detectives are continuing to gather evidence,” Santa Monica police said.
