(NewsNation) — More than 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products nationwide have been recalled following potential contamination with a cleaning product.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a press release on Friday, noting that sodium hypochlorite could be in Cargill Kitchen Solutions’ liquid egg products produced on Mar. 12 and 13.
The possibly affected products have the code “G1804” on the carton.
“After conducting an investigation and thorough assessment of the contents of the cleaning solution, FSIS scientists concluded that use of this product should not cause adverse health consequences, or the risk is negligible, resulting in a Class III recall,” the release said.
Class III recalls are considered “marginal risk” per the FSIS.
Despite little to no chance of adverse effects, the FSIS urges people to throw the product away or return it to the place of purchase.
