The driver and passenger of a Tesla died on Saturday morning after a crash in Fullerton, authorities confirmed.

According to the Fullerton Police Department, the collision was reported at 6:48 a.m. in the area of East Orangethorpe Avenue and South State College Boulevard.

Investigations revealed that the driver of a white Tesla was traveling westbound on Orangethorpe when he ran a red light at the intersection. He then clipped a gray Toyota truck before crashing into the side of an Orange County Transit Authority bus.

The male Tesla driver was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. A female passenger of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene.

Their identities have not yet been released by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.

The drivers of the bus and Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities in their investigation.

5 passengers aboard the OCTA bus were transported to local hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.

As of noon Saturday, it’s not yet clear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.

No additional details were immediately made available.
