An 18-year-old suspect was arrested for the shooting death of a man in Long Beach.
The suspect was identified as Mario Amarion Jennings, a Rancho Cucamonga resident, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
On Dec. 10, 2024, police responded to a shooting on the 900 block of Via Carmelitos at around 1:15 p.m.
Arriving officers found the victim, Dwayne Walton, 32, from Los Angeles, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The gunman fled the area before police arrived. Homicide detectives later identified Jennings as the suspect in Walton’s killing.
On Jan. 30, Long Beach detectives, with help from the San Bernadino County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team, located Jennings in Rancho Cucamonga where he was taken into custody.
He was transported to Long Beach City Jail where he was booked for murder and is being held on $3 million bail.
The motive behind the deadly shooting remains under investigation. Details on the relationship between Jennings and the victim were not released.
