A 14-year-old boy was among five people who were injured overnight during a traffic crash on the North Side in the West Ridge neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 12:15 a.m., a yellow sedan that was headed north in the 6300 block of North Albany Avenue disregarded a traffic sign and struck a black SUV headed east on Rosemont Avenue, police said. The airbags in both vehicles deployed.

The 25-year-old man who was driving the yellow sedan suffered a minor injury during the crash and was taken to Lutheran General Hospital for observation, police said. A 17-year-old boy who was a front seat passenger refused medical help at the scene.

A 56-year-old driver of the second vehicle suffered pain throughout his body and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was listed in good condition. A front seat passenger, 48, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for observation. A rear-seat passenger, a 15-year-old girl, suffered bruising and stiffness and was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in good condition. A 14-year-old boy, also a rear seat passenger suffered trauma to the body, and was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver of the yellow sedan was given citations.
